Vehicle coverage
Cooling and fuel systems
Cooling and fuel components are usually found on higher plan levels rather than the base powertrain plan. They matter because a cooling failure can lead to engine damage.
What this covers on many plans
- Water pump, radiator and thermostat
- Cooling fan and fan motor
- Fuel pump, fuel injectors and fuel pressure regulator
- Hoses, where the plan lists them
What usually causes these failures
- Age and heat cycles on pumps and hoses
- Contaminated coolant or fuel
- Stop-and-go driving in hot weather
Often not covered
- Coolant and fuel top-ups
- Hoses and clamps on some plans
- Fuel tank and fuel lines on some plans
- Damage from running the engine hot after a warning
Questions to ask before you buy
- Are the radiator and water pump covered, or only the water pump?
- Are fuel injectors covered?
- Is engine damage from a cooling failure covered?
Coverage depends on the plan you choose. The covered list, exclusions, limits and service fee in your contract decide what is paid. Ask for them in writing before you buy.
